Is Botpress free?
By Riley Park · Last verified: September 2026
Yes, with a hard cap. The Free plan includes 25 conversations a month, 3 seats, and 3 AI agents, with no top-ups or overages, on the same isolated per-agent runtime as the paid tiers. Botpress moved to conversation-based pricing in September 2026: Plus is $150 a month billed annually (250 conversations) and Team is $750 a month billed annually (1,500 conversations, unlimited seats). Monthly billing runs about 20% higher. Verified on botpress.com/pricing, September 22, 2026.
How much does Botpress cost per month? Free is $0 for 25 conversations. Plus is $150 a month billed annually for 250 conversations, 3 seats, unlimited agents, white-label webchat, and $25 of AI usage; extra conversations come in packs of 100 for $65. Team is $750 a month billed annually for 1,500 conversations, unlimited seats, teams and RBAC, and $150 of AI usage, with packs of 100 for $50. Enterprise is custom and adds voice, an uptime SLA, and a HIPAA BAA. Monthly billing is about 20% above the annual rates.
What counts as a conversation. Any exchange with two or more user messages in a month is one conversation, and each includes $0.10 of AI usage; beyond the plan's AI allowance, auto-recharge applies. A busy visitor and a quiet one cost the same, which is the structural difference from credit-metered products like Chatbase.
What 25 conversations is for. Building and testing. Twenty-five is under one a day, so the Free plan cannot run production traffic. Its value is that it is a real free tier with no expiry and no idle-deletion rule, and self-hosting the MIT-licensed platform is the free route to production for teams with engineers.
If you priced Botpress earlier in 2026. The previous tiers were Plus at $89 and Team at $495 with unlimited seats on every plan. Those numbers are gone; the entry tiers got materially more expensive and seats are capped at three below Team.
