Is Zoho Books free?

By Riley Park · Last verified: October 2026

Yes, while your revenue stays under $50,000 a year. Zoho Books Free costs $0 for one user plus one accountant and allows up to 1,000 invoices and 1,000 expenses a year, with bank reconciliation, recurring invoices, a customer portal, payment reminders, 1099 contractor tracking, 50 receipt scans a month and email support. Zoho says the plan stays free indefinitely while revenue for the financial year is under that threshold. Verified on Zoho's US pricing page, October 4, 2026.

What Free includes. Invoices, quotes, expenses and journals; sales receipts and vendor management; mileage tracking; online payments; a self-service customer portal; retention payments; automated payment reminders; bank reconciliation; recurring invoices; W-9 management and 1099 contractor tracking; profit and loss, balance sheet and 50+ other reports; and 50 receipt autoscans a month.

The limits. Revenue for the financial year must stay under $50,000. Free allows 1,000 invoices and 1,000 expenses a year, five scheduled reports, and no paid add-ons except extra document autoscans. Support is by email, weekdays 9 AM to 9 PM Eastern.

What needs Standard. Automatic bank feeds, sales and use tax tracking, 1099 e-filing, recurring expenses, period locking, custom fields and reports, API access, and phone and chat support start on Standard: $20 a month, or $15 a month billed annually, with three users and 5,000 invoices a year. Multi-currency, inventory and project profitability start on Professional ($50 a month). Paid plans come with a 14-day free trial.

What happens when my revenue passes $50,000? Zoho conditions the Free plan on revenue for the financial year staying under $50,000, so a business above it needs a paid plan. The entry paid plan is Standard.

Does Zoho Books Free connect to my bank? Free includes bank reconciliation, but automatic bank feeds start on Standard.

Can my accountant use Zoho Books Free? Yes. Free includes one user plus one accountant. For comparison, QuickBooks Free has no accountant access (Is QuickBooks free?), and Wave Starter allows a payroll manager or Block Advisors tax pro, with full team roles on Pro (Is Wave free?).

How DDR treats Zoho Books Free. It passes DDR's free-plan test with one condition, the revenue cap. Below $50,000 a year it runs a year of normal activity, includes accountant access, and Zoho presents it as a standing plan. A business that expects to cross the cap should plan for Standard.
